Kos
(Greece)
Kos boasts countless beautiful beaches and a fabulous hillscape on the southeast coast. The natural conditions here determine the activities that holidaymakers may partake in: primarily water sports such as swimming, surfing and water skiing.
Surf stations offering board hire and lessons are to be found on almost all of Kos' beaches, the most popular area being the Bay of Kamári that enjoys reliable offshore winds. On the other hand, diving is not permitted anywhere on Kos in order to prevent the disappearance of ancient artistic treasures. Official diving spots close to the island must be accessed by ship. Diving centres in Kos Town also offer diving excursions. Fun water sports such as water skiing, jet skiing and banana boating are available in all holiday resorts.
The Díkeos Mountains are ideal for leisurely walks and mountain biking tours through the diversified and beautifully scenic landscape. Visitors should, however, take into consideration the fact that even the simplest of tours requires a good level of fitness and plenty of water in view of the summer heat. The area surrounding Kos Town is perfect for cycling tours as various bike paths are even to be found here. Tennis courts are available in all of the larger hotel complexes.
