Turkish Riviera
(Turkey)
The 'Turquoise Coast' is a dream destination for those who love water sports. The sporting opportunities in the holiday resorts are as diverse as the surrounding landscape. Diving into the crystal-clear waters is a new experience every time.
Of course, the Turkish Riviera isn't just a paradise for divers, but also for sailors. Practically every resort along this stretch of coast boasts a marina, a location generally best sited for arrival by boat during the high season from May until October. Whether visitors choose to take an organised trip or whether they would prefer to hire their own boat is entirely their choice, as everything is possible here. Water skiing, speed boating and paragliding are among the leisure activities that may be tried out here, as along the whole stretch of coastline.
Around Belek, various golf courses offering challenging greens and fantastic landscapes are available and attract golfers from all over the world. Many of the large hotels in the resorts also hire out their tennis facilities to non-guests. Hikers and walkers will feel themselves at home in the various national parks. Olympos National Park on the west coast boasts the natural wonder of the Chimera. Historical ruins of the ancient Termessos at an altitude of around 1,000 m may be admired in the inland national park of Güllük Dagi. Just as worthwhile are excursions to the great waterfalls near Manavgat or the Düden Waterfalls near Antalya, which offer great opportunities to refresh oneself on hot summer days.
