Hurghada (Egypt)

First and foremost, sport in Hurghada means diving. With its fabulous, colourful underwater world, the Red Sea counts amongst the most beautiful dive sites in the world.
Along Hurghada's almost 20 miles of coastline, many dive schools offer their services and take sports enthusiasts on trips to the offshore reefs. Those wishing to become better acquainted with the underwater world without getting wet should pay a visit to the Red Sea Aquarium or go on an excursion aboard one of the glass-bottomed boats to marvel at the tropical fish and fantastic coral reefs. Many other water sports such as surfing, parasailing and banana boating also feature on Hurghada's sports programme. For sun worshippers and fans of the water, there is a seemingly never-ending sandy beach to be enjoyed.
The nearest golf course is at the Steigenberger Hotel in El Gouna just over 15 mls to the north of Hurghada. Lying amidst lagoons, this 18-hole course offers both beginners and professional golfers a challenging 6,300 metres with an aqua range, a putting green and a chipping green. There is also a fitness and massage centre in the clubhouse where guests may partake in some head-to-toe indulgence. Horse lovers will come across a riding school in El Gouna that offers lessons as well as day trips out into the surrounding area.
