Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt)

With the remarkable mountainous backdrop of the Sinai behind and the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea in front Sharm el Sheikh was fortunate enough to be blessed with charming surroundings.
With its dream-like beach of Na'ama Bay, magical diving spots, an inviting pedestrianised zone and elegant hotels, Sharm el Sheikh has developed into the chicest holiday resort in Egypt. Guests will discover numerous restaurants, a colourful nightlife, a beach promenade with international flair, a bazaar with a great offer of jewellery and souvenirs and fine sand beaches with sport and leisure options on the almost 7.5 mile long strip of coast. The locals enjoy describing their city as "Charme el Sheikh".
It is, however, not just the coastal region that boasts numerous attractions, but also the mountainous hinterlands are worth an explore. A sunset on Moses Mountain, where Moses is said to have been given the Ten Commandments: first the mountain peaks are bathed in gold, then the light floods down the slope and the whole mountain range is lit up. For centuries, the Christian teachings have been enshrined in papyrus rolls and valuable icons in St. Catherine's monastery, at the foot of Mount Sinai. In the basilica, the remains of St. Catherine have been laid to rest. A trip into the tranquil desert is a rather special experience. Far away from all of the lights, noises and smells of the outside world, unbelievable starlit nights and fantastic days are to be had.
